This excellent trek in the foothills of Annapurna offers a spectacular view of the Annapurna massif and gives a chance to have a close look at the culture and day to day life of the Gurung and Magar people, who contributed to the famous Gurkha army.
ITENERARY
Day 01 ARRIVAL
Arrival and transfer to the hotel.
Day 02 KATHMANDU
Half-day sight seeing of Kathmandu valley. Sightseeing places are: Pashupatinath Temple, Boudhanath Stupa and Kathmandu Durbar Square. Rest of the day preparing for Jomsom Trek.
Day 03 POKHARA
Transfer to Pokhara at 0800 hrs after breakfast. Drive to Pokhara is 6 to 7 hrs. On the way we stop for lunch break. Upon arrival check in hotel.
Day 04: NAYA PUL TO TIKEDHUNGA
Drive to Naya Pul and start trekking. Tikedhunga (1525m)is situated northwest of NayaPul . Birethanti (1065m) and Hile (1495m) and small towns midway.
Day 05: GHOREPANI
Continue to north- western Mayan route to reach Ghorapani (2775m) through villages like Ulleri (2070m) and Banthani (2250m). Poon Hill (3210m), which is an hour's treks from Ghorapani, provides a clean view of the Himalayan.
Day 06: TATOPANI
Tatopani lies to to the northwest of Ghorapani. Its name is derived from the hot springs near the river below the village. This place offers many facilities for the trekkers and is known for its mandarin oranges. Sikha (1980m) and Ghara (1705m) lie between Ghorapani and Tatopani.
Day 07: KALOPANI
The trek extends is a north west directions along the West Bank of the Kali Gandaki gorge believed to be the deepest in the world. Hamlets like Dana (1400m), Rupse Chhahara (1550m), Ghasa (2080m) and Lete (2470m) are passed prior to reaching Kalopani (2560m). Kalopani offers spectacular views of Dhaulaghiri, and Annapurna I , among others.
Day 08: MARPHA
The route direction changes to north-east from Kalopani to Marpha (2665m), Lamjung (2560m), Khobang (2560m) and Tukuche (2560m) are Thakali villages on the way. Marpha has monasteries and here the climate is better than Jomsom, situated north-east.
Day 09: KAGBENI
Kagbeni lies at 2810m northeast of Marpha, passing through Shyang, Jomsom (2713m), and Eklai Bhatti (2730m) Kagbeni is situated at the junction of the Jhong Khola and the Kali Gandaki and is a typical tibetan village. Proceeding north leads to Mustang, although tourists cannot travel there without proper documentation.
Day 10: MUKTINATH
From Kagbeni, the trek turns southeast to reach Muktinath Khingar (3200m), Jharkot (3500m) and Ranipauwa (3710m) are the settlement en route.
Muktinath is a pilgrimage creature for both Hindu and Buddhists.
Day 11: JOMSOM
Takes a days walk.
Day 12: POKHARA
Fly to Pokhara and transfer to the hotel. Rest of the day in leisure.
Day 13: POKHARA
Pokhara sight seeing: Devin's fall, Mahendra cave, Seti River Gorge, Bindabasini Temple, Tibetean Refugee Camp and Boating in Fewa Lake.
Day 14: KATHMANDU
After breakfast take a flight to Kathmandu which is 30 minutes flight. Upon arrival receive and transfer to the hotel. Sight seeing in Kathmandu valley. Sight seeing places are Patan Durbar Square, Swoyambunath, Budanilkanth and Bhaktapur Durbar Square.
Day 15: KATHMANDU
Day in leisure or shopping.
Day 16: DEPARTURE
Departure as per flight schedule after breakfast.
